Apple Pickin

This past week I had the opportunity to go to a great little apple orchard not once but twice! Thierbach Orchards has the best apples and my kid's always have a blast. During Summer they also have pick your own berries and peaches. Yummy!

The first time I took my youngest 2 kids with our Parents As Teachers group and it was HOT! Poor T was sweating up a storm after playing in the bounce house and O was covered in apple juice after gnawing on a freshly picked apple.

Corn Box
She thought she was hot stuff trying to climb up the slide!
He's so funny.
Playing in the corn.
She really wanted to eat that corn!

The second time was with my oldest, L, for our date this month. She was excited to get one on one time with Mommy and to go on the tractor ride.

Looks good
Hard to eat with missing teeth
Feeding the goats she named
She really looks like she's flying
We got caught in a downpour while trying to get through the maze

Having fun making memories with my kiddos and getting to have fresh picked apples on hand, maybe some applesauce should be in the works!

Superhero Cape

I have a friend who did a Superhero theme for her son's birthday and wanted capes for each of the boys. I offered up my idea of doing felt ones because there is less sewing (no edges to worry about) and they hold up really well. My kiddos have a few toys made out of felt and they are on their 3rd round of being played with by a baby without much wear and tear.

She wanted the Superman colors so I suggested doing the emblem with just each boy's initial on the back and they all turned out so cute.

I bought my felt at Joann's by the yard, you can't beat it when it's 40% off.  I traced an old cape we already had as my pattern and made my own pattern for the emblem. To make the letters fit I traced the emblem onto paper and then wrote the letters on that and cut them out. After getting them cut out it was just a matter of sewing Velcro on the tabs and sewing the letters and emblem down on the back of the cape.

Superhero cape finished in no time! This would make a great idea for a Halloween costume or a gift for Christmas for those Superhero fans. Make and Take Craft Weekend is offering a Kid's Gift Day and this is just one of the gifts you can make, it can be made for boys or girls.

Christmas Series Event

Make and Take Craft Weekend,  held our first month in our Christmas Series Event today and it was so much fun. The ladies today made a holiday pillow and a Christmas ribbon tree to use as decorations for their homes or if you're lucky you might get them as a gift from these fine ladies.

The holiday pillow required sewing and it's so funny to see people get worried about not being able to sew but then they figure it out and are so excited to see their finished project. These ladies were rock stars with sewing and their pillows turned out so cute!

We stopped for a bit to have a very yummy snack of apple crisp and ice cream! Oh so yummy, so you know it's not good for ya!

The ribbon trees will look amazing in their homes this Christmas. Such a fun and easy thing to add some color to a mantel or table.

Today was so much fun and we are still offering 3 more months in this series, it's not too late to sign up. For more information and details, click here.

St. Louis Vintage Market Days

Just returned from St. Louis Vintage Market Days and it was spectacular! The weather was beautiful, the venue very rustic and Oh! all the goodies I could have bought! I limited myself to just a few treasures.

I fell in love with the chevron blanket and when I picked it up the square blanket was underneath. Of course I had to have both, blankets are a big thing in our house. The mirror is going on the wall at the bottom of our steps, I've been searching for something and that just caught my eye right away. It's from the vendor The Vintage Farmhouse, she has a store in Union, MO and every time I go there the whole store has changed. The owner is so sweet and she always has great stuff with awesome prices. She knows my Mom and I as the mirror ladies, we both have an obsession with mirrors right now. The crown made out of an old tape measure is also from her booth and it's finding a new home in my daughters' bedroom.

If you're looking for something to do tomorrow, Vintage Market Days is going on Sunday from 10-4, I highly recommend going. Our little business, Make and Take Craft Weekend, is one of the sponsors. Hopefully you get a chance to check it out, they hold them all over so if you're not from the St. Louis area check around they may have one closer to you. Vintage Market Days

Sprinkled with Love

We celebrated my youngest daughter's 1st birthday this weekend, Sprinkled with Love was the theme and the party was amazing. The rain held off until the party was over, we had yummy food, great entertainment and lots of fun.

The theme, Sprinkled with Love, was one that I saw awhile back on a blog and I just fell in love with it. I'm the type of person to start planning a party like a year in advance so I can pick things up when I see them. I bought the Sprinkled with Love party printables from Kojo Designs, it includes a personalized invitation and sign along with labels, cupcake toppers and much more.

The party favors were bottles of sprinkles and sprinkled Happy Apples, from Happy Apple. This is an amazing company and they even put on a custom label on the sprinkles. I added the Sprinkled with Love labels to them and the apples.

Decorations were mostly made using the fabric I purchased to make my daughter's dress. I made her dress from the Katy pattern from Create Kids Couture. I hung some mini fabric bunting along our deck with some pom pom's that I purchased from Pick Your Plum. I put up some material and lace no-sew fabric bunting to hang above the "gift" table. Since we still have everything from my older kids I asked guests to bring donations for our local pregnancy assistance center. I took an empty frame that I purchased and stapled wire onto the back of it to hang pictures of my daughter from her first year. I also took some doilies that I had laying around the house and made a little bunting to go on the dessert table. The numbered burlap is from Wal-Mart, our local one just started carrying the precut pieces of fabric.

The smash cake and cupcakes were from Blue Duck Cafe which always delivers on yumminess! My daughter loved her first taste of cake and was so cute trying to get the sprinkles off the icing. I made the cake bunting from her dress fabric as well with some chevron straws I had at home.

Since there are so many younger kids in the family right now I also hired Lollypop, the balloon artist, and she was amazing! For a whole hour we barely heard a peep out of the kids as they all watched her create the most amazing animals. There were turtles, Minnie Mouse, octopus, ladybug, killer whales and an elephant standing on a ball! I highly recommend her for your next get together and she has the patience of a saint.

My husband's uncle and brother in law were our chefs for the evening, they caught and cooked fish along with fried pickles, fried green tomatoes, hush puppies and fried zucchini. It was a great party with friends, food and fun. Happy 1st Birthday Sweetie and remember we will always Sprinkle you with Love!

This Is Me...

Here I am trying my hand at blogging. Let me just come right out and admit it: I'm not a computer person! So bear with me as I figure this all out. I'm a crafty person who loves to sew for my 3 kiddos L, O and T. I first began my crafting journey with scrapbooking about 7 years ago and it's spilled over to many different things. Just ask my husband, my hobbies are spilling over into several rooms in our house! Over the years I have followed several blogs and have always wanted to "show" off my abilities and I have just started a business adventure with my Mom. We are hosting amazing getaway weekends where you enjoy home cooked meals, crafts, shopping and more crafts. Make and Take Craft Weekend I thought this would be a way for me to showcase the crafts we do and to get our name out there. So thank you for joining me on my journey. Enjoy!
